Twenty twenty six outing Sat

Image
With Bronwen and a friend of hers I travelled on Saturday out to Bondi Beach to see a varied show at Twenty Twenty Six Gallery. Finding a park on O’Brien Street we were soon surveying the paintings, including Tricia Trinder’s ‘Midnight’ (see pic below). The moody sublime is strong in these works and I enjoyed the use of colour. Trinder also had some smaller circular works on display.  I also liked Melanie Vugich’s still lifes such as ‘Sunday brunch on arancia’ (see below) which like all of her works is colourful and playful. In some of her works she puts books with the spines or cover lettering visible so you can enjoy relating to what has inspired the artist. One of these books was on Raoul Dufy. We didn’t stay long but looked at all the works. The crowd was quite substantial and I expect that the proprietors would have been happy with the turnout.

Woollahra Gallery opening Wed evening

Image
It was the first opening of the year and I made it down to Woollahra Gallery in the car to take in a collection of lovely works including Andrew Jackson Wyatt’s ‘Untitled’ series (see pic below). These paintings are like mine in that they incorporate words as well as colours, so it was especially fun to see them. I also caught Consuelo Canaviglia’s ‘Untitled’ series (see below). The only problem with these works is that they involve sheets of Perspex that might get damaged, I also worry about the glass bubbles being smashed. The colours are nice though.
