Preparing PR material for show

Image
I went to the framer's to pick up some pictures that had been made ready (see below pics). These photos are not really good enough to use for promotional purposes but they're fine for a blogpost. I'll take more today using a tripod as a friend suggested. While picking up items I also dropped off more things to be framed, so what you see above is only a small selection of what will be in the show. This means you'll have to come along to see what else is available. The show is opening in the evening of 6 July but it runs from Wed 5 July to Tues 11 July (closed on the Monday). There are four artists participating so it should be great.

Adrienne Doig's goddesses

Popped down to Darlinghurst to take measurements in Art Centre of Sydney for our show in July, an exercise that took me about 20 minutes, then caught the bus to Paddington to see Adrienne Doig’s goddesses at Martin Browne Contemporary. I had a nice chat with the staffer about mum and granny’s clowns, which they made out of second-hand materials in the 60s and 70s and sold in the gift shop they ran in Vaucluse. The process seems to be the same with Doig’s works, which are of different sizes and which feature the artist herself as various deities. She pairs herself up with Australian native animals, dolphins, echidnas etc. Enjoyed the show particularly as the pieces look much better in real life relative to online.
