somewhere

beyond his need to sleep

the somniphobia returns

to haunt him with her name

her face

again

he’ll scream again

curse the gods & demons

cry so deeply

as to feel himself die

and still she wasn’t there

only that shadow

called yesterday

and the tears that followed
